Cate was such an invaluable resource for our family during the college application process. We started working with her in February of my daughter’s Junior year. She worked very closely with my daughter and provided her with so much insight and guidance from starting to research her list of schools, narrowing it down to those that would be a good fit, to providing feedback, and assisting in finding her vision for college essays. She kept us informed the whole way and was always available for questions and feedback. This provided such comfort and security knowing that our child was able to maneuver the entire application process from start to finish with an extremely knowledgeable and caring person. Cate wants my child to succeed and find a good fit for her while being realistic about our budget. I’m happy to say that we had stress free holidays thanks to her. My most positive takeaway from the experience of working with Cate is that her relationship with my kid saved MY relationship with my kid from deteriorating--because I was mostly able to be hands-off and not hound him (not sure if this is common knowledge, but 17 year-olds are not always thrilled to have advice and interference from their parents, LOL). Cate raised flags if they arose, but mostly, she and my student were the team, and I was able to be a more relaxed spectator. Currently, we are seeing college decisions come in, and are so pleased with the options available that seem to speak to different facets of my kid's personality. I've been friends with Cate Hanrahan for close to two decades, and in that time I’ve witnessed her dedication to education and student support in roles as a School Counselor, Assistant Principal, Contracted Coach/Mentor, and now as Founder and Educational Coach for her business, Reflection Point Educational Coaching. I’ve had the good fortune to experience Cate in her latest career endeavor as she supports me and my son through the process of navigating college preparation, choice, and maybe most importantly, purpose and path. It was with much gratitude that I had the fortune to be partnered with Cate Hanrahan at Sequoia Consulting Group to establish a Parent Support Group for Sequoia employees during Covid in 2020.
